Charitable Hospital

Apart from a monastery, the Ashrama also runs the Mayavati Charitable Hospital which serves free of charge nearly 1400 villages in this remote and backward region of the Himalayas. The helplessness of the people here would touch any heart if only it were known. The hospital depends upon public charity for its maintenance. Now, quite a large number of patients come here daily across hills and dales in doli, on horeseback, or on foot, some times trudging a distance of 80 or 100 km—taking four or five days for the journey—for medical help. And they really get help of prompt and sympathetic medical treatment and also of modern and tested medicines collected from distant places with great care. All treatment is completely free of charge.

Accomodation

There is a small Guest House with limited facilities. The summer guest season is from mid-March to mid-June. The autumn guest season is from mid-September to mid-November. The period allowed for a party or person to stay here is 2-3 days. No stranger is allowed to stay at Mayavati Ashrama. Prior permission from the President of this Ashrama is essential for staying at Mayavati. For this purpose, correspondence should be made in early January (for reservation in summer guest season) or early June (for reservation in autumn guest season).
